This workshop of 1000 sqft built within the grounds of a grade II listed house and attached to a range of converted farm buildings was to provide a product assembly workshop for a specialist hand-built machinery manufacturing company.
The brief was also to provide a building that would be an asset to the property by designing a flexible space that could accommodate a variety of future uses such as a recital room, dance/art studio or various commercial activities. Despite traditional quality finishes both inside and out, such as lime render and handmade clay pantiles, the workshop cost less than £70/sqft to build. In addition it has a compact form and is highly insulated – even in the coldest winter it requires only 1.5kW of heating.
