Although designed to look like the converted outbuildings of a historic farmhouse, this extension makes use of the modern building materials and techniques to achieve a comfortable, energy-efficient home. The walls and roofs are made from structural insulated panels (SIPs), which are manufactured off-site.  This extension also makes use of energy efficient whole house mechanical ventilation.
